Welcome to my Genealogy page. On these pages you will find my
family tree. The two family names that I have concentrated on
are van de Langerijt on my father’s side and Baak on my
mother’s side. In future I plan to expand my research to
include other family names.
For security reasons and to protect their privacy, I have not included the information of any living people or those presumed to be living. If anyone is interested in the living people in my family tree and would like that information, feel free to email me and I will make the decision to release the information on a case by case basis.
How did I get started? Well, a number of years ago, my father’s brother, my uncle and namesake, Adrian van de Langerijt came to visit my family from the Netherlands. I was still living in Canada at the time. He had with him the results of many years of research into the van de Langerijt family tree. I was very interested in the family genealogy and he gave me a copy of the results of his research. Since this was in the pre-Internet days, all of his research consisted of manually searching through old archives and documents. The advent of the Internet has made it possible for me to continue his work and add a considerable amount to his initial results.
What I have been able to add to the family tree is largely due to the great work done at the Regionaal Archief Tilburg or in English the Tilburg Regional Archives. They have, and continue to transcribe the historical documents in the archives. Lately they have also made available digital copies of the actual documents. Selected parts of these documents can even be copied and saved as .JPG or .PDF files. Some of the information I have gathered has also come from other areas of the Internet including other archives and other family trees. For this I thank all of those who have made the results of their research available on the Internet. Wherever possible I have endeavored to verify the information from other sources.
A family tree is never finished and as such this site will be updated from time to time. If you would like to be notified of updates just send me an email and I will try to keep you up to date.
How accurate is the information? Because of the resources I have been able to access, I believe that most of the information I have here is quite accurate especially that information where I have been able to acquire copies of the original documents. Until now I have only recorded the names and dates etc. However, I am working on verifying the information and recording the sources so that I have a record of the level of accuracy of the information. This is where visitors to this site can help me. If you have any information to add or you find inaccurate information on this page, please send me an email so that I can add to or correct my records. Conversely, if you find some information on these pages that is of interest to you and would like to have it in electronic format, drop me an email and I will be happy to share. I use The Master Genealogist computer program to record all my data and can export to GEDCOM and numerous other file formats.
